Clarke Nicklin back Spark Stockport competition

Cheadle based accountants and business advisors Clarke Nicklin are delighted to support ‘Spark Stockport’ for the second year running.

Spark is a business ideas competition, ran by Oxford Innovation at Stockport Business & Innovation Centre (SBIC) and part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, whereby budding entrepreneurs put forward business ideas to be in with a chance of winning a business support package worth £15,000.

The package includes a year’s free tenancy at SBIC, 12 months free business support from Clarke Nicklin plus marketing, product development & PR support through various other competition backers.

The first round of judging took place recently, with entries from a wide range of markets including events management, gardening products, designer ceramics, confectionery, video production, IT, student placements, educational services and sportswear.

Paul Mellor, a Partner at Clarke Nicklin commented; “I’m delighted to have been involved in the judging process, the diverse range of entrants made for a very exciting first round. We managed to whittle the entries down to a very strong final 6, the quality was excellent this year. I’m looking forward to the next stage, which involves face-to-face pitches from the entrants to the judging panel, and then crowning the lucky winner of this year’s competition!”

The winner is being announced at SBIC, in Broadstone Mill, on 23rd June. To find out more go to www.spark-stockport.co.uk.
